High above the picturesque small town of Gargnano on the western shore of Lake Garda you find the almost 400-year-old plague chapel San Valentino whitewashed in white chalk. From there you have a superb view over the Lake. The small chapel nestles into an overhanging rock face at an altitude of 770 meters.  The chapel can be reached on foot from Sasso, a small mountain village on the road from Gargnano to Lago di Valvestino. Leave your car as soon as you get to Sasso, walk through the village and turn left at the covered wash place at the end of the village. At the beginning the footpath goes past small vegetable patches and vineyards, then the climb starts, taking you through a dense forest. The walk takes about 45 minutes. The path is marked with white and red symbols as well as blue arrows and for most of the way goes uphill on rocky terrain.
