Park just outside Gaino, walk into the historical centre as far as Piazza Michelangelo, turn right into Via Folino – Cabiana and then after 50 m. turn left into Via Camerate. After about 250 m. turn right uphill towards the climbing wall “il castello” and climb on keeping to the left.
15 minutes’ route: turn left following the sign “palestra – cresta il Castello”, continue along a dirt path and a little further on, past an old kiln, you reach the climbing practice wall. Make your way back to the bar and continue straight on, following the sign “ Castello”, up a steep path until you get to the pass , from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view (1.30 hrs. from departure).
10 minutes’route: continue to the left along the side of the mountain on a path equipped with ropes and reach the top where a towering wooden cross was placed by the club “Amici del Monte Pizzoccolo e Castello”. Make your way back along the path as far as the fork where on the right you continue to Navazzo. Going down on the left you can see the remains of a First World War trench. Walk along the archery ground and reach the council road, turn left to Navazzo at the crossroads and after about 200 m., when you get to the craft site turn left again and go down to Segrane. A stop on the way at the Segrane spring is recommended. Continue downhill keeping to the left until you reach the river Toscolano. At the bridge you can quench your thirst at the renowned Fonte delle Camerate before resuming your walk along the river back to the parking lot in Gaino, which you will reach in about 50 minutes.
